Wineskin RC5 Released!
I know RC4 has only been out a few days, and has 117 downloads... but as I get closer to a full 1.0 release, there's less and less to do... Need more suggestions or bug reports... or its looking like RC5 might end up being 1.0, or close.
List of changes in RC5
- Default Wine version updated to 1.1.34
- Fullscreen mode always opens with a virtual desktop
- It looks identical to not having a desktop, but with the desktop setting, Xquartz handles it as a window and not full screen, and games work better and more stable... and more likely to work in general. All fullscreen games need to always run in a virtual desktop, rootless or fullscreen...
- Added choice to run "normal windows" or "virtual desktop" when selecting Rootless in ScreenOptions.app
- Fullscreen wanting games run best in a virtual desktop... so if a game wants to run in fullscreen but you want to run it in a rootless window, it will do it automatically, with the right name above the window.... pretty much the same as sticking virtual desktop in winecfg... but without the "default" name up top.... and winecfg setting wont matter.... unless "normal windows" was chosen.
- Option "Remake wineprefix for new Wine version" added to WineskinConfg.app
- Rebuild the wineprefix to scratch, from current Wine version in Wineskin. Often needed when changing Wine versions. You must manually backup drive_c installed programs if you want to save them, and registry entires if wanted, as it deletes and rebuilds a default Wine drive_c, dosdevices, and .reg files. It also changes two settings from default. It enables font smoothing, and changes the vitual desktop background to black, instead of blue.
- Winetricks now has a pop up window to let you know its working
- No more long downloads in the background wondering what the heck is going on...
- All internal Wineskin apps are moved to just inside the wrapper, not in Contents.
- I thought it was better...
- winecfg and regedit moved back inside of WineskinConfig.app
- you can still make custom EXE launchers of these if you want to leave one or the other in a finished wrapper but not leave WineskinConfig.app
- Default Wine builds completely unmodified now
- rebuilt working versions for 1.1.5 - 1.1.34 (sans 1.1.20 which has issues). winex11.drv built against X11 in /Applications/.Wineskin, so it should not ever mess up and try to access any local X11 files, just what is inside the wrapper. Wine builds also slightly larger, as they are generic compiled to handle basically everything Wine can
- Added in needed libraries that Wine was compiled against as dependencies.
- placed in X11/lib, will be available for running wine apps... I think I got all the ones that matter, if you get Wine error log messages that a certain dylib was not loaded, and you cannot find it in X11/libs, please report it so I can add it
- Wineskin Lite
- Still not sure totally how to do this unless I make it not support any custom Wine builds... theres so many Wine versions there would have to be an install for every version... still weighing options. If anyone has any ideas about this, please suggest!
